Bang! What was that noise?

5. When encountering large obstacles (such as boulders) on the trail, it is best to
DRIVE OVER (not straddle) the obstacle with the tires.

Ground clearance beneath most off-road vehicles is less than ten inches! Straddling objects between the tires can result in bent or destroyed, steering linkage, oil pans, gas tanks or drive lines. That is just a sample of the vulnerable items that are exposed underneath a vehicle. With the exception of tipping a vehicle on its side, it is always better to negotiate large obstacles by driving over them with the tires of the vehicle...slowly!
